Job description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for using the 8-way hand tie method to install springs in frames used in the manufacture of upholstered furniture. This position may web burlap onto the furniture parts prior to 8-way hand tying of springs, install no sags and polypropylene.

Key Responsibilities

  • Places springs in frame and ties down using the 8-way hand tie method

  • Cover springs in seat with FLW and attaches using staple gun

  • Installs no sags on back of frame as needed

  • Applies polypropylene to arms

  • Applies edge wire where needed

  • May be responsible for webbing process 

  • Frequently rotates in each job functions throughout the day

  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures

Job requirements

Experience/Certifications/Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • The ability to stand, walk and move for up to nine hours per day

  • Previous webbing and spring up/8-way hand tying experience a plus

  • Previous experience with upholstery or furniture manufacturing

  • Must pass criminal background check and drug testing

  • Must be able to work thoughtfully and thoroughly with continuous attention to detail

  • Ability to learn quickly and retain a wide range of small details concerning multiple product types, tasks, system processes, issues, and/or projects

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Comfortable multi-tasking, or, pivoting between tasks as the need arises

  • Willingness to learn new products, procedures, and processes as business needs change

  • A friendly attitude with the ability to deliver exceptional customer service and be a team player and stay self-motivated in a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling and twisting throughout the day

  • Continuous repetitive motions requiring grasping, pushing/pulling and fine hand manipulation

  • Occasional reaching at or below shoulder level may be required

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently; rarely up to 100 lbs with support.
