Outsider with Dressmaker/Waterfall Skirt Experience

  • On-site
    • Thomasville, North Carolina, United States
  • Upholstery

Job description

Position Summary:

The Outsider position involves fitting, installing, and securing padding and cover material on furniture frames using a staple gun and other hand and power tools, adhering to all manufacturing and quality specifications. The role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to work thoughtfully and thoroughly. The Outsider will be responsible for cutting and covering frames with fiber, foam rubber, and thin strips of padding using a pneumatic staple gun to ensure proper padding. Additionally, the position entails covering frame parts with pre-cut and sewn cloth, vinyl, or leather material, and securing these materials with aluminum trim and cardboard strips to provide straight edges. The individual must pull the material tight by hand to prevent wrinkles and staple the frame securely. Excess material will need to be cut away as necessary, and the individual will use a regulator to smooth seams as required. Once the upholstered frames are completed, they will be placed onto a cart and pushed to the next person on the upholstery line or to the final finish department. A significant aspect of this role is the requirement to build dressmakers and center fabric to the frame. The candidate must have experience in pleating skirts and applying skirts to frames, which is essential for the successful execution of the job. The position demands excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as the ability to learn quickly and retain a wide range of small details concerning multiple product types, tasks, system processes, issues, and projects.
